Our Aim Should Be To Keep It Great
Contrary to the current progressive thinking, the United States is a great country. And you do not have to look far to see it. According to the Pew Research Center, there arenmore immigrants in the US than in any other country in the world. They estimate that about a fifth of the world’s immigrants live right here, representing just about every country. In fact, we take in about one million immigrants every year. According to their research, most immigrants are here legally. Only about 23% are in the country illegally.1With this in mind, why do we feel compelled to make it easier to take in more, and why give amnesty to immigrants here illegally?
The million-dollar question is, why do so many people come here? If this country is so evil, racist, and inferior, why not go somewhere else? Immigrants from El Salvador and Honduras could stop in Mexico instead of continuing to the US. Or, they could continue north to Canada, where they have socialized medicine. But they do not. They stop right here because the US is a great country. Our aim should not be to Make America Great Again; it should be to keep it great. But how?
Do Not forget why the US is a great country
Our forefathers founded this great country over 240 years ago for many reasons, but a few stood out as paramount; Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. They clearly stated this in the Declaration of Independence that our Congress adopted on July 4, 1776.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
Since that time, over one million soldiers gave their lives to protect the rights of all citizens of the United States of America and to further our freedom.
Remember Our Heros
Unfortunately, in today’s ‘woke’ culture, many people feel we must tear down the past heroes. In San Fransico, public officials are planning to rename many public schools that were named after people once held in high esteem. Among those people are Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Paul Revere, and even Diane Feinstein. Lincoln is credited with abolishing slavery, but he has treated the American Indians very harshly. And Diane Feinstein reportedly replaced a confederate flag that was damaged by vandals when she was a mayor.2 Many of these people are part of the reason the US is a great country.
If we believe we can judge others the same way God judges us, there will be no heroes, nor good people, not one. No one can measure up to a standard of perfection. At some point, we must change our focus from tearing people down to building them up.
We owe it to the brave men and women that sacrificed everything to protect the freedoms our forefathers gave us. And also to the untold men, women, and children who supported our troops with blood, sweat, and tears, often giving up a father, son, or sometimes daughter because they cherished what we have. Without question, we owe it to them to protect those freedoms with every legal means available. If we let our freedom go, we will never get it back.

We cannot do that if we do not remember history and the people who made history. It is why the US is a great country.
It is a cliche but the US is a great country because it is the land of opportunity. Our ‘woke’ culture would have you believe that capitalism is the root of all evil and socialism is the way to solve all of our problems. But think carefully about that.
Capitalism is why our country is the land of opportunity. Individuals are rewarded for their efforts. The more valuable you make yourself the fewer limitations there are on what you can accomplish. It is based on individual and team efforts.
Socialism is based on the concept of what’s good for society. Private ownership of production ceases and with it, the incentive to work harder, do more, and innovate. There are artificial limits on what a person can do. It leads to a society that handicaps the whole by removing the incentive for the individual.
Stop Looking For vengeance
Love your neighbor
It is a precept from the Holy Bible that can be universally applied.
You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.3
No country can stand if it is divided and we are divided. Yes, the US is a great country but it won’t be for long if we don’t change direction. We cannot continue to fight in the streets when it takes much less effort to listen and understand. Listen to your neighbor and look for the good
People are angry and sometimes rightfully so. If we took more time to listen and less time being defensive, there would be a lot less anger. People need support. They need to know other people care and want the truth no matter where it leads. We all need to know people are there for us and will fight corruption wherever it exists. If we all do that one thing, the anger is going to dissipate, and justice will prevail. If we don’t, everything keeps going down the road we are on.
There is no question the US is a great country, but only we the people can keep it that way and make it greater.

If we lose our freedom, we lose it all. And if you think this country is not good enough to fight for, consider where you would go, and it would be better. Then ask yourself, are you willing to do what countless immigrants all over the world do, to come here. Would you risk your life, and your family’s lives just to get to the country you believe is a better place to live.
If the answer to that question is no, then let’s get to work and fix what needs to be fixed without tearing down everything that makes the US a great country.
There are no perfect people and no perfect countries. But we all have choices. If we believe our country is so badly flawed that the only option is violence, and destruction or tearing apart the foundational values it was built on, then consider immigrating to a better country.
There is one thing you can be sure of, another civil war will not fix our country. If we remain divided we will fall. One day you will wake up and find out it is no longer your country. You will find yourself living in China or the new USSR.
Don’t let that be how it all ends. Our children and grandchildren will be the ones suffering from our mistakes. No parent wants to be the cause of their children’s bad choices. We should think carefully about how we proceed from here.
